(long Version)...

After moving to Texas at the age of seven, Dane began piano lessons on and off for about five years. From there he joined the beginner band at Heritage Middle School in Colleyville/Grapevine TX, as a percussionist, and started drumset lessons with Warren Dewey (Former drummer for LeAnne Rimes) outside of school. He applied his drumset and piano talents in the middle school's jazz band, switching instruments on different charts.

He continued his musical education by joining the Colleyville Heritage High School band and drumline, where he was taught by Jeff Ausdemore, Chris Hayes, Arjuna Contreras, Dan Neimeyer and several other teachers from around the metroplex. While there, he competed in several drumline and band competitions including B.O.A. (Bands of America) and the Lonestar Classic as well as attending The Macy's Day Parade and several conventions such as PASIC (Percussive Arts International Convention) and TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association). At these conventions he played concert percussion, marching percussion, and percussion for his high school choir whom he also played percussion with for a performance with the men's choir "Chanticleer" at the Bass Hall in Dallas.

At the regular high school percussion concerts every spring, CHHS would get the privilege to play with special guest artists and ask them questions about the music business. Some of these artists include Steve Smith of the band Journey, Chad Wackerman of Frank Zappa, Tommy Igoe of the Broadway musical The Lion King, Will Kennedy of the group The Yellowjackets, and Lalo Davila.

Applying his talents in drumset, he was in the high school jazz band and also competed in several battle of the bands and talent shows with multiple groups, one of which he had a small tour around the DFW area. During this time Dane also developed an interest in midi composition and drum sequencing programs such as Ableton Live, Reason, FL Studio, Logic Pro, and ProTools.

After Graduating from high school, Dane went to The University of North Texas to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a concentration in percussion and music composition. Several of his studies while there included music composition with Joseph Klein, audio production with David Pickett (former member of Abby Roads records), African and Advanced African Drums with Midawo Gideon Foli Alorwoyie, percussion with Mark Ford, Paul Rennick, Ed Soph, and Christopher Deane, Men's Chorus, Music Theory, Piano, and Aural Skills, and various music history and ethnomusicology classes.

In the summer of 2006, Dane also marched Quads with the The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps receiving 6th place at the International world championship with a score of 90.125.

In the spring of '08, Dane played drums for the band "Surf Arson" at the SXSW Film and Music Festival in Austin. For the past 7 years he has been performing with the original band "Born & Raised" a progressive southern metal band, playing all over Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and California, and recorded 3 albums with the band. Additionally he has been filling in for the bands "Silver Loves Mercury" the project of JT Longoria, a grammy nominated audio engineer, and "5 Billion and Counting" having opened for several known groups including Powerman 5000, Alien Ant Farm, Hed PE, and Flotsam & Jetsam..
